The park dedication event was held on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2013 at 11:00 at the Glen Eden Neighborhood Center and along the House Creek greenway near the Marshall Memorial Park, Raleigh, NC.
The event began with a series of presentations including an opening dedication from Rick Marshall, recognition by Mayor Pro Tem Eugene Weeks, a memorial tribute by Brig. Gen. William J. Gothard, and keynote remarks from historian Warren Bingham. These tributes were followed by remarks from Rick’s son, George Marshall III, and a dedication of flags ceremony from the North Carolina Army National Guard Honor Guard.
A reception followed that included an exhibit of Marshall memorabilia and visits to the park site. Golf carts shuttled guests along the one-mile distance along the greenway between the community center and the Marshall memorial site.
